Content Marketer resume example

A content marketer's resume has to show planning and results together. Connect which content you made, on which channel and for whom, to the change it made for the brand and the business.

For: Marketers who plan social, blog and brand content

Three keys to a Content Marketer resume

01

Name the channel and audience first

Instagram, YouTube, blogs and newsletters work differently. Put the channel, main audience and posting cadence in the first line of each role so the context is clear.

02

The next action matters more than views

Views and likes are easy to read but weak evidence. Show whether people who saw the content subscribed, signed up, bought or got in touch.

03

Link to your best work

Content is fastest to judge by seeing it. Link two or three key pieces or campaigns and keep only the intent and result on the resume.

Writing the summary

Describe your main channels, content types and how you work (data-driven planning, brand voice design and so on) in one or two sentences. Add one headline result as a number.

I have planned and run social and blog content for a lifestyle brand for four years. I am good at turning real customer moments into stories, and I grew the brand Instagram from 12,000 to 45,000 followers in a year.

Try rewriting it like this

BeforeManaged the company Instagram account.

AfterPosted to the brand Instagram four times a week and planned a customer-story series, growing followers from 12,000 to 45,000 in a year and driving 3,000 profile link clicks a month.

Cadence, planning, growth and the next action together show how you run a channel.

BeforeWrote blog content.

AfterPlanned and wrote 40 how-to articles based on keyword research, growing organic search visits from 8,000 to 25,000 a month.

Showing what your plan was based on and what it achieved separates a planner from a writer.

BeforeParticipated in several campaigns.

AfterPlanned collaboration content with 12 influencers for the spring campaign and ran the schedule, bringing in 1,800 new sign-ups during the campaign.

Replace 'participated' with your role and the campaign result.

Organizing skills

Separate planning and production skills (copywriting, video editing, design tools) from analysis (GA4, channel insights, keyword tools). List production tools only at the level where you can deliver finished work.

What changes with experience

If this is your first application

In years one and two, focus on the channels you ran and the series you planned yourself. A personal blog or social account also counts if it shows consistency and planning.

If you have more experience

Later on, lead with work that built structure, such as channel strategy, brand voice guidelines and partner management. Campaign-level results matter more than single posts.

Common mistakes

Frequently asked questions

How should I prepare a portfolio?

Pick three to five key pieces and summarize the intent, process and result on one page each. Link it once from the resume.

What if I have no performance numbers?

Compare a before and after period in channel insights. If there truly are no numbers, describe the planning process and the response concretely.

Does a personal social account count?

If you ran it consistently on a topic related to the role, yes. Include the period, size and how you planned it.
