Three keys to a HR Specialist resume

01

Areas owned and organization size

HR is broad. Start by stating which areas you owned, among recruiting, performance and pay, training, employee relations and culture, and how large the organization was.

02

Policies need the reason and the result

Creating a new policy is not enough. Say what problem it solved and how employee response and metrics changed to show both planning and execution.

03

Show accuracy and trust

Payroll, social insurance and attendance can be expressed as volume handled or time without errors. Following security and procedure with sensitive data is a strength too.

Writing the summary

Write your main area, organization size and one headline result in one or two sentences. For recruiting, hiring volume and time; for policy, what you introduced and its result.

I have run recruiting, onboarding and performance reviews at IT companies for five years. I am good at standardizing hiring to shorten it and building ways for new hires to settle in quickly.

Try rewriting it like this

BeforeWas in charge of recruiting.

AfterHandled 45 hires a year during an engineering expansion, diversified sourcing and standardized interview scheduling, cutting average time to hire from 52 days to 34.

Volume, what you changed and the time saved all need to be there.

BeforeParticipated in improving the performance review system.

AfterRan the switch from one annual review to quarterly goal check-ins plus a year-end review as the working lead, halving review appeals compared with the prior year.

Write the policy, your role and the change in the organization together.

BeforeRan new-hire training.

AfterRedesigned onboarding into a two-week program with mentors, cutting first-year attrition from 18% to 9%.

Show what the training achieved, not that it happened.

Organizing skills

Separate HR operations (recruiting, performance and pay, payroll and social insurance, employee relations) from tools (HRIS, Excel, job boards). Put labor law training or certifications in their own section.

What changes with experience

If this is your first application

As a new or junior specialist, focus on accurate operations such as recruiting logistics, attendance and payroll, and their volume. Add HR or organizational projects from school.

If you have more experience

Later, lead with organization-wide work such as policy design, reorganization and leader coaching. Surveys or attrition metrics make the change convincing.
